Engine speed surge caused plane to skid
"We're sorry to report that the Boeing 737-800 type TC-CPF registered aircraft of Pegasus Airlines Flight Number PC 8622 Ankara-Trabzon flight scheduled at 18:25 UTC tonight, had a Runway Excursion Incident during landing at Trabzon Airport (13 January 2018)", it said.
A passenger airplane carrying 168 people overshot an airstrip in Turkey Saturday, skidding off the runway after it landed. However, it stopped midway and was left hanging precariously on the muddy cliff with its nose only a few feet from the water.
The incident happened at the Trabzon Airport in the coastal city of Trabzon in northern Turkey. It has a cliff bordering the Black Sea. Flights were suspended at Trabzon Airport for several hours before resuming again Sunday.
According to passenger reports, the plane lurched to one side before the plane plunged off the edge of the runway.
Testimonies from the passengers confirmed that accounts of the senior pilot. The six-member crew, including two pilots, was also evacuated.

The investigation on the incident is still ongoing, and officials are still working on getting access to the plane's black boxes.
Passenger Fatma Gordu told state-run news agency Anadolu people on the plane were panicked.
"It was a miracle", said another passenger, Yuksel Gordu. "It's a miracle we escaped", he said.
The Turkish aircraft that careered off a runway and almost into the sea had a problem with one of its engines said the pilot, according to Sky News, citing Turkish news agency Dogan.
I think I'll avoid flying the mythical winged stallion of the skies for awhile, er, ever.
