Given the current state of affairs, it was only a matter of time before Ivanka Trump's name would surface in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe of alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 election. But she did, according to what a person familiar with the exchange told the LA Times, "briefly [speak] with two of the participants, a Russian lawyer and a Russian-born Washington lobbyist".
The president's daughter reportedly came into contact with Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, and the lobbyist, Rinat Akhmetshin, while they were exiting the building during a brief elevator ride. The talk "consisted of pleasantries", a person familiar with the episode told the paper.
Veselnitskaya, Akhmetshin, translator Anatoli Samochornov and Ike Kaveladze attended the meetingwith Paul Manafort, Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner. He wants to know every interaction between those at the controversial meeting and Trump's family and inner circle.
Bannon then reportedly went on to say that if Trump Jr. wanted such a meeting, he should have set it up "in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people". Many allege the meeting happened so the lawyer could offer dirt on Hillary Clinton's campaign.
Goldstone wrote that the damaging information on Clinton was "part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump".
Mueller could now be looking at possible obstruction of justice by Trump and his administration rather than collusion with the Russians during the 2016 campaign.
Bannon speculated that Trump Jr. brought the Russian group upstairs to meet the candidate, a claim that the participants have all denied.

Trump told reporters at Camp David that The New York Times story first reporting the request was 'way off, or at least off, ' - though he wouldn't say how.
The paper did not identify the participant summoned back by Mueller.
