The widow of Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen told authorities that she knew in advance that her husband was going to attack the gay club in Orlando, Fla., but a psychologist is expected to testify in her trial that she was not telling the truth.

"I knew when he left the house he was going to Orlando to attack the Pulse nightclub", Salman said in the released statement obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

Noor Salman told investigators she was in denial that her husband, Omar Mateen, could hurt other people when he left their home with guns and ammunition, the Orlando Sentinel reported citing a statement written by an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and signed by the widow.

Salman will face trial in March for providing material support to a terrorist group and obstruction of justice.

Hours after Mateen was shot dead by police inside the Orlando nightclub where he killed 49 people on June 12, 2016, Noor Salman wrote the 12-page statement while she was questioned without a lawyer.

"I was in denial", she continued, "I could not believe that the father of my child was going to hurt other people".

He also asserts that the woman was not read the Miranda rights but US attorneys respond that she was never in custody in the first place and gave her statements, voluntarily.

Mateen called 911 from the club and pledged his allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State. The hearing was closed to the public.

The judge in the case has agreed to let Miami psychologist Bruce Frankin, who specializes in false and coerced confessions, testify.

Salman said her husband "became obsessed" with ISIS and fighting in the Middle East two years prior to the shooting. Prosecutors insist, though, she was not under arrest at the time and has lied to impede the investigation.

' Salman said, according to the statement she signed.

"'How upset are people going to be when it gets attacked?'" Mateen said, according to Salman's testimony. He worked as a security guard for the private security firm G4S.

She also said that in the days and weeks leading up to the attack, he bought her a ring for $7,000, clothes from Victoria Secret, and toys for their son.

Mateen was armed with two guns - a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol and a.223-caliber assault rifle - when he attacked the club.

US attorneys have argued that she was not detained, was free to leave, and that she gave her statement willingly.
