Winter weather alerts issued in Upstate New York for winter storm

The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a wind chill advisory through noon Tuesday, citing a band of arctic air that would send temperatures below zero overnight and wind chills to almost 20 below.

Further north, it is predicting that 2 to 4 inches will accumulate across the Poconos and northern New Jersey. The clipper system should wrap up sometime after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning in the D.C. area and around 10 a.m.in the eastern counties.

Plus, temperatures are expected to reach the mid 50s on Tuesday. Wind chills of 10 below to 15 below zero could occur in the advisory area. "Some roads in the northwest part of the state have been reported impassable". This is the area was under a Winter Storm Warning Monday night.

A wind chill advisory is in effect until noon today, according to the weather service. Temperatures Tuesday will likely stay below freezing over the entire area.

Wind chills will range from the teens to below zero Tuesday morning.

Impacts: Temperatures plunge well below freezing tonight, so any wintry accumulation that is left on the roads will cause very **DANGEROUS** travel conditions.

Temperatures are forecast to warm up for the weekend, with high temperatures projected to be in the 60s. The low Tuesday night will fall before 20 degrees for the second straight night.
