A Change.org petition calling on 25 companies to break ties with the NRA had received nearly 7,000 signatures by Saturday morning. Most of these companies do promotional tie-ins with groups to spur customer loyalty to NRA members, and do not receive money directly from the NRA.
This comes as petitions spread online, targeting companies that offer discounts to NRA members.
On Thursday, the vehicle rental companies Alamo, Enterprise and National, which share the parent company Enterprise Holdings, tweeted they would end their discount for N.R.A. members beginning March 26. "In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve", it continued.
Members of the NRA have access to special offers from partner companies on its website, ranging from life insurance to wine clubs.
