Owners of the firm which started in 1981 and has over 600 franchise stores across the United Kingdom stunned investors earlier this month by revealing a 30-million pound tax bill.

Conviviality said following discussions with its banks, the board had made a decision to to appoint administrators within 10 business days, unless circumstances change.

"The company is in discussions with its lending banks and advisors regarding other possible options and is in receipt of a number of inbound enquiries regarding a potential sale of all or parts the business", the AIM-listed company said, in a statement after market close on Wednesday.
