Elected officials, the press, and the public have all reacted to the news by directing their ire not only toward Facebook's once very lax developer policies, but also to the core of its service. After surging to a 52-week high of $195 in January, shares have retreated to levels where they traded last July.

The social media giant announced a series of design changes to its settings and privacy pages on Wednesday.

In a message posted today, March 28, Facebook explains "It's Time to Make Our Privacy Tools Easier to Find".

Most of the security page updates have been in the works for some time, Facebook chief privacy officer Erin Egan and deputy general counsel Ashlie Beringer wrote in a statement on Wednesday, "but the events of the past several days underscore their importance".

A new Privacy Shortcuts menu has also been created for users to control data in just a few taps, with clearer explanations of how the controls work.

For starters, the social network has redesigned the settings menu on mobile devices to, hopefully, make it easier to manage your account and see what type of data apps connected to it are accessing.

Lehmann Unaware of Ball-Tampering - Cricket Australia
While Lehmann believes the public still loves Smith, anger among the cricketing community and Australian fans would say otherwise. I hope people will give them a second chance. "Darren Lehmann has not offered to resign as far as I'm aware".

The scandal was only the latest for Facebook, which was already under fire for allowing its ad network to be exploited to promulgate fake news during the 2016 election. Users will also be able to review what personal information they've shared and they will also have the option to delete it.

"Some people want to delete things they've shared in the past, while others are just curious about the information Facebook has", the company said, with some understatement. Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg is expected to testify in Congress next month.

Furthermore, an "Access Your Information" tab has been introduced to provide users a secure way to access and manage their information, such as posts, reactions, comments, and so on.

"Facebook's bug bounty program will expand so that people can also report to us if they find misuses of data by app developers", Ime Archibong, Facebook's vice president of product partnerships, said in a blog post.

Facebook shares are down almost 18 percent since March 16, when it first acknowledged that user data had been improperly channelled to Cambridge Analytica, eating away almost US$100 billion of the company's market value. Around 300,000 Facebook users installed the app, and by granting access to their contacts, the data mining reached an estimated 50 million users.
