Hearthstone: In-Game Tournament Mode Details

Hearthstone Year of the Raven

Hearthstone Year of the Raven

If that's all gibberish to you, effectively what Hearthstone does is the same as many other collectable card games in that they're constantly releasing new sets of card but to make the game approachable to new players (and to keep the metagame evolving) they "rotate" card sets.

With this new tournament mode, Blizzard says players can run a Hearthstone tournament in a home or more established event setting within the client.

To start, the in-game tournaments will be launched as a beta "around the middle of this year", but there's more planned beyond that. Three old favorites will be added to the Hall of Fame, the honorific category Hearthstone's team created previous year to retire cards from the previously-immune Classic set that launched with the game.

Of note, Molten Giant will be getting un-nerfed in his move, so players can continue with their original playstyle. Her daddy is Cenarius, a legendary druid minion card from the Classic set, so I guess she's following in papa's footsteps. With it will come the annual rotation of the Standard format, which means that Whispers of the Old Gods, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan and One Night in Karazhan will be sent to live out their days in Wild, where the Piloted Shredders roam free. Now players can create their own brackets with friends without having to depend outside organization tools. The Year of the Raven will be picking up where the Year of the Mammoth ends, as it will introduce an updated card set rotation that will drastically change the meta, with the goal of encouraging exploration and variety in deck types at the forefront. These cards are Ice Block, Coldlight Oracle, and Molten Giant. Called Year of the Raven, the new content is named for one of the heavenly bodies surrounding Azeroth. Similarly, quests that had you play 50 quest cards will go down to 30. For example, quests that require you to win two games as certain classes will now only ask you to win one.

Protest mounts over Malaysian PM's plan to redraw electoral map
Johor state, where the ruling coalition is expected to face a tough battle, will see changes to 19 of its 26 parliamentary seats. Electoral authorities say redrawing boundaries is a regular exercise that must be undertaken to reflect demographic changes.

Joining them in Wild will be new Hall of Fame inductees.

The most obvious change will be the card shift. Blizzard has revealed that each set will contain over 130 new cards as well as new single-player content.

Hearthstone players can also expect to see a new Tournament feature coming soon. Quests that used to give 40 gold will now bestow 50 and daily wins will be lowered from three to two. That'll be a Druid hero by the name of Lunara. This is in an effort to make completing daily quests easier and make the overall game more welcoming to newcomers. Players who win 10 games in the updated Standard format will earn Lunara - so it's not as if she's particularly hard to earn, but she'll be super neat to use.
