Pittsfield: Vietnam veterans memorial ceremony
Blake Busbin, a history teacher at Auburn High School, said Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans and their families are invited to attend the welcome home ceremony. "Too few of those who served during Vietnam received the homecoming their distinguished service deserved".
The holiday was made official by President Donald Trump previous year when he signed the 'Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017.' The act made a law designating March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
Governor Ralph Northam will honor Vietnam veterans at the Virginia War Memorial on Thursday, March 29. Though there is some debate, March 29 is generally viewed as a more appropriate date. The U.S. began commemoration of the Vietnam War's 50th anniversary in 2012 and will continue through Veterans Day 2025.
