The 17-year-old student charged with killing 10 people when he opened fire in an art class at his Houston-area high school appeared "weirdly nonemotional" on the morning after the rampage, one of his lawyers said on Saturday.
Courtney Marshall, 15, told Reuters that the gunman entered her classroom on Friday and opened fire.
Police say two people were wounded in a shooting outside a high school graduation ceremony in Georgia on Friday night. During the appearance, the teen acknowledged understanding the charges against him, only saying "yes, sir" and "no, sir" when asked questions.
Robert Stone told The Associated Press by phone Saturday that authorities officially notified his family that his nephew, Chris Stone, was among those killed in Friday's attack at Santa Fe High School. Abbott said the two guns used in the attack were owned legally by his father.
Gunfire erupted at the school not long after classes began around 7:30 a.m. local time, officials said.
It was unclear if the people who were shot attended that graduation.
He says explosive devices including a molotov cocktail that had been found in the suspected shooter's home and a vehicle as well as around the school and nearby.
Henry told reporters that the suspect had devices but none were functional.
Investigators found a group of carbon dioxide canisters taped together, and a pressure cooker with an alarm clock and nails inside.

Santa Fe High School, southeast of Houston, became the scene of the fourth-deadliest mass shooting at a US public school in modern history, joining a long list of campuses where students and faculty have fallen victim to gunfire.

"He wore, like, a trench coat nearly every day", student Mateo Twilley told CNN. "I wasn't surprised, I was just scared".
Acevedo said he was "not ashamed to admit I've shed tears of sadness, pain and anger" after the shooting.
Tristen Patterson, a junior at Sante Fe high School, says Pagourtzis didn't show signs of being bullied, but that he rarely talked about himself. "Too many years. Too many decades now". They said they are cooperating with authorities.
In an appeal posted on his personal Facebook page, Mr Acevedo wrote: "Today I spent the day dealing with another mass shooting of children and a responding police officer who is clinging to life".
