It seems that all the firms behind popular voice-activated speakers have been made aware of the issue. Major smart speaker manufacturers like Amazon, Google and Apple say that they have safeguards in place to prevent their assistants from being hijacked.
Apple said its smart speaker, HomePod, is created to prevent commands from doing things like unlocking doors; it noted that iPhones and iPads must be unlocked before Siri will act on commands that access sensitive data or open apps and websites, among other measures. Amazon has a PIN code option for making voice purchases.

Researches in China call the technique "DolphinAttack". These commands were reportedly able to activate the artificial intelligence (AI) systems on smartphones and smart speakers to dial phone numbers or open websites - all without the consent of end users. Researchers were able to manipulate Mozilla's DeepSpeech software.
Earlier this year, several owners of Alexa reported that the voice-assistant devices were bursting out into laughter for no reason. Or that Google just this week announced more native control over kitchen appliances and a strikingly human sounding AI that can make calls on your behalf to set up appointments.
Like the Berkeley study, they used a technique that translates voice commands into ultrasonic frequencies that are too high for the human ear to recognize.
