2019 Aston Martin DB11 AMR
The 2019 Aston Martin DB11 AMR is available to order now, and will begin rolling out in the second quarter of 2018.
Replacing the two-year-old DB11 V12, which accounts for 40% of annual DB11 sales, the DB11 AMR gets an uprated twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre powerplant that develops 630bhp at 6500rpm and 516lb ft at 1500rpm. The roof is gloss black and around back gets smoked tail lamps and tailpipes.
Visually, the special edition DB11 sports a monochrome treatment all over with a dark front grille, dark headlight surrounds, and carbon-fiber hood blades. The Stirling green and lime paint scheme on the limited-to-100-units AMR signature edition the new line will launch with, a direct homage to Aston Martin's old Vantage GTE racer. But, if you're not down with AMR, a quick backgrounder for you: Early previous year, Aston launched the Vantage AMR Pro and the Rapide AMR, the first salvos in a full broadside of AMR models that will encompass the entire range.
Aesthetic changes for the DB11 AMR are subtle but worthwhile. The result is a faster 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and an increased top speed of 208mph. According to Aston, the new exhaust is more vocal than the base auto and shows more character when you're in sport mode.
As with the existing V-12, the new AMR relies on a mid-mounted eight-speed automatic gearbox, but its shift points have been recalibrated.

Besides the retuned engine, the DB11 AMR also has a chassis that was reworked by chief engineer Matt Becker and Aston's dynamics team.

Inside, "monotone" leather and Alcantara upholstery with a contrasting lime stripe is just one of a plethora of trim options: Aston offers three "Designer Specifications", along with an AMR Signature Edition, each with a different combination of interior and exterior touches. Featuring even more extensive carbon fibre detailing on the exterior, Dark Knight leather with Lime detailing, Satin Dark Chrome switchgear and Satin Carbon Fibre trim, only 100 examples will be sold worldwide, priced at £26,000 more than the standard auto.
Stateside the DB11 AMR will retail for a base MSRP of US$241,000 when it shows up at your dealership this summer; we'll hopefully have Canadian pricing for you with our test drive of the auto, which you should look for here in about two weeks. The base price for the USA market is $241,000 plus delivery fees and the first cars are expected to reach American showrooms this coming summer.
