NASA astronaut Drew Feustel seemingly hangs off the International Space Station while conducting a spacewalk with fellow NASA astronaut Ricky Arnold
A pair of NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station are embarking on a six-and-a-half-hour spacewalk today to upgrade and fix the orbiting outpost.
The NASA space walk wil last around 6.5 hours, and will be carried out by Expedition 55 flight engineers Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold, who exited the station through the Quest airlock at around 8:10 am EDT.
Since they operate using highly toxic ammonia, the spacewalkers must take utmost care not to get any on their suits. One pump got too cold because of a power shutdown 17 years ago and is called Frosty. The other, a failed unit dubbed Leaky, spewed out ammonia five years ago. This fresh pump is named Motley since it's comprised of a variety of spare parts.
