Carvalhal set to leave relegation-threatened Swansea

Carlos Carvalhal set for final match in charge of Swansea

Southampton nearly certainly secured their Premier League survival after Manolo Gabbiadini's second-half goal gave them a 1-0 win over Swansea City on Tuesday that left their relegation rivals deep in the mire.

Carvalhal was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday a few days before he was appointed by Swansea. But the sad fact is that even with success in the lower leagues or with under-23 sides these coaches are still not given a chance at the sharp end and instead we appoint "safe, experienced" managers from these shores or big-name coaches from overseas who, not by coincidence, were given a chance to shine much earlier at a higher level by more open-minded, forward-thinking boardrooms or technical directors.

"The season will always be remembered and talked about in the future, and the players and staff can reflect upon the achievement with pride - to amass so many points and break all these records is incredible".

Notts County were dispatched 8-1 in the FA Cup fourth-round replay, but things were about to unravel.

Their only chance of escaping relegation this season is if they beat Stoke City in their last game of the season with 10 goals and also pray that Southampton lose against Manchester City.

Theresa May Splits Cabinet To Consider Customs Options
If those goods didn't leave the United Kingdom and UK tariffs on them were lower, companies could then claim back the difference. The Prime Minister acted after a meeting of the Brexit "war cabinet" failed to agree a way forward at a crunch meeting last week.

The Swans are three points behind Huddersfield but have a better goal difference by two. At that point, it's best to be realistic about your prospects of a nice meal. For a time, it has to be said, the Portuguese was doing well.

Oriol Romeu said that Hughes "made a huge difference" since replacing Mauricio Pellegrino in March, overseeing two wins and two draws in their past four league games.

Ultimately, however, were it not for the upsets against Liverpool and Arsenal, nobody would have thought Swansea were ever doing that well.

Except, that thought had not crossed the owners' minds, and if it had they couldn't convince Carvalhal to stick around if he activated a rumoured break clause. Incidentally, there are already early whisperings of a return for Michael Laudrup.

Many fans pointed out that Huddersfield deserved credit and were right to celebrate survival as an achievement given the fact they came up via the playoffs and it was their debut season in the Premier League.
