A Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputy is expected to survive after being shot at a gas station in Sonoma Sunday, according to officials.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports two deputies responded when a vehicle wash manager reported an employee was acting strangely and refused to go home after being asked to leave.
When two officers arrived in response, the employee, 19, was standing behind a truck in the carwash line and began firing from a nine-millimeter semiautomatic handgun, hitting one of the deputies, the article noted.
The manager told his employee to go home, but he refused to leave, authorities said.

One of the deputies returned fire but didn't hit the suspect, who ducked down behind the truck, sheriff's officials said. Several pellets from the bullet injured the deputy. The deputy was also shot and is hospitalized in stable condition.
The sheriff's office has not said why the deputy tried to stop the truck.
"We are thankful that our deputy is going to be OK, and we appreciate the community's support during this hard time", officials from the sheriff's office said in a statement.
