Authorities in Western Australia responded early Friday morning to a home in Osmington, not far from Perth, where the four children and three adults were found dead from gunshot wounds, according to local news reports.

Authorities suspect Miles, 61, a farm maintenance building owner, whose body was discovered just outside the home, was behind the murder-suicide that claimed his daughter, Katrina Miles, 35, her children, Ryan, Taye, Ayre and Kadyn, ages 8 to 13, and his wife, Cynda Miles, sources told The Australian.

Ms Miles, who was separated from her husband, was described as a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her "smart and beautiful" children.

Libby Mettam, a local parliamentarian, said the deaths had sent "significant shockwaves" through the town and the community was hurting.

"We will investigate this frightful crime", said Dawson, noting that this event is "a awful tragedy".

He thanked everyone who was assisting in the aftermath of the shootings and offered his commiserations to those who had "endured the unendurable".

WA Premier Mark McGowan has offered his sympathies to the family of the victims, describing the incident as "appalling, very bad and terrible".
