Is Iran preparing to attack Israel?
Iranian forces in Syria fired about 20 rockets into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights early Thursday, targeting forward positions of the Israeli military, according to a military spokesman.
Israel attacked dozens of Iranian targets overnight in response to the rocket barrage on Israeli positions in the Golan Heights. Several rockets intercepted. No Israeli casualties.
On Sunday, it became known that the IDF had uncovered involvement by Hezbollah commanders, under the command of Iran's Revolutionary Guard's Quds Force Commander Maj.
No injuries were reported.
Within hours of the White House announcement on Tuesday night, Syrian state media said that its air defenses had brought down two Israeli missiles.
Then, 10 days ago, a mysterious missile attack attributed to Israel destroyed a munitions site in Syria said to have been operated by Iran, killing 16 people.
Syria's foreign ministry said on Thursday that Israel's latest move towards "direct confrontation. indicates the start of a new phase of aggression against" Damascus.

Tensions between Israel and Iran are high over Iran's efforts to expand its military presence in Syria, where it is a key ally of President Bashar Assad. Yesterday Israel's energy minister warned Assad that if Iran continued to threaten Israel from his home base, Israel would "eliminate" him.
Its foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said "all issues should be solved through dialogue" and that Russian Federation had warned Israel to avoid "all actions that could be seen as provocative". For years the USA has tracked arms shipments from Iran to Hezbollah fighters in Syria supporting the Assad regime, but recently Iran has been supplying Hezbollah with more material and logistical support... -Gen. Qassem Soleimani, in a planned attack on IDF military positions using precision-guided missiles or armed drones launched from a base in Syria...
Fearing that Iran and Hezbollah are setting up a Lebanese-Syrian front against it, Israel has occasionally struck at their forces.
Iran has advisers and experts and has backed tens of thousands of militiamen who are fighting alongside Assad's forces in the civil war.
The scope of the attacks - which Israel called its largest in Syria since the 1973 Mideast war - raised the specter of a full-fledged war between Iran and Israel in Syria, a conflict that could potentially drag the militant Hezbollah and Lebanon into the mix with devastating effects, although both sides appeared to signal they wanted the confrontation to remain contained, at least for now. Of course, we hope so, too.
