A stage invader grabs the microphone from Su Rie
Barzilai's winning Eurovision Song Contest entry Toy has been criticised by numerous users on social media, with people claiming that the performance appropriated Asian culture.
Yesterday, may 12, in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, took place the final of the musical contest "Eurovision-2018". The score is determined by points given by the contest's official juries and by callers.
But Barzilai, with her Asian-themed show in red and yellow and her dancers doing funky chicken moves, was unrepentant. Before the Grand Final, her song had already racked up more than 20 million views on Eurovision's YouTube channel.
The not-so-subtle links to the country did not go unnoticed by viewers who took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
After her victory on Saturday night, she "celebrated the entire night...and didn't sleep at all".
