Ireland lines up against Pakistan for their inaugural Test
Ireland will make a giant leap when they host their first Test match against Pakistan from Friday in Dublin.
After years of wait, Ireland steps into the longer format of the game with the one-off Test, and speaking to scribes at the Malahide earlier, Cricket Ireland's chief executive, Warren Deutrom, had indicated that it is open to touring Pakistan.
Porterfield and some of his Ireland team-mates had the chance to pick the brains of former Marcus Trescothick during a warm-up match against Somerset and they will look to put the former England batsman's advice to good use against Pakistan.

Ireland-Pakistan cricketing relations date back to 1962 when the tourists, led by stand-in captain, the great Fazal Mahmood, played a 2-day match at College Park, Dublin. Still some time for cricket to start.
Ireland were granted associate status by the ICC in 1993 and have been playing one-day internationals since 2006. "It is a massive occasion for everyone involved in Irish cricket", said captain William Porterfield.
