U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that he and his counterpart "will both try to make it a very special moment for world peace".

Along the Chinese border with North Korea, the evidence of Beijing's leverage in the coming talks between President Donald Trump and the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, is everywhere.

"It's very early in the morning", he noted to reporters. Still, they seemed happy. They released a statement ahead of their return home. And, big bonus - Melania was there, too.

Kim Jong-un said he accepted a U.S. proposal to grant the three detainees an amnesty, adding that his meeting with President Trump would be an "excellent first step" towards improving the situation on the Korean peninsula, according to the North Korean state news agency KCNA.

Dr Bilveer Singh, senior adjunct fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, said flights at Changi Airport could be disrupted if the air space needs to be closed temporarily to accommodate the high-level flights. Frankly, we didn't think this was going to happen, but it did. "Other Christians are praying and targeting for North Korean doors to open (to the gospel)". That's really what Kim fears, and Trump should use that leverage to his advantage. Asia experts are skeptical. South Korea's liberal government, elected past year, has reached out to North Korea in recent months in attempting to settle the worldwide standoff over Kim's nuclear program.

He says Trump's confrontational Twitter diplomacy over the a year ago was "baffling to many", but says it's created enough North Korean uncertainty about American intentions to coax Kim into talks. Trump legitimately, if potentially briefly, gets to enjoy this anticipated breakthrough as a seminal event in his administration.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong replied: "The meeting between US President @realDonaldTrump & North Korea leader Kim Jong Un is a significant step on the path to peace".

Unprecedented tension between Iran and Israel
The Israeli military released aerial footage Friday of the Iranian military sites in Syria targeted by the Israeli air force. A senior military pro-regime source in Syria confirmed the salvo of rockets, but insisted Israel fired first.

The alleged defection was particularly notable because the manager and waitresses in question were all reportedly members of North Korea's elite.

South Korea's Unification Ministry spokesman Baik Tae-hyun said: "New claims have been made on how the North Korean workers escaped and arrived in South Korea and whether they were acting on their free will".

He said its policy was now "to concentrate all efforts into economic progress", but stressed that this had nothing to do with worldwide sanctions imposed on the country. The past two presidents have relieved effective sanctions pressure before receiving tangible results.

Trump, meanwhile, has bragged that he had done what President Barack Obama couldn't in getting the hostages released. Then again, it's hard to release someone who hasn't been taken hostage yet. The other two were arrested after Trump's inauguration last spring amid rising tensions between Washington and Pyongyang.

"We talked about the fact that America has often in history had adversaries who we are now close partners with and our hope that we could achieve the same with respect to North Korea". Warmbier apparently had been so severely beaten for the crime of trying to remove a government sign as a souvenir that he was doomed.

As the current chair of ASEAN, Singapore is already scheduled to host multiple high-profile meetings this year, the American Enterprise Institute's Dan Blumenthal told Politico, and will also host the ministers of defence from nearly 30 nations early next month at the Shangri-La Dialogue.
