The ad hoc commission will investigate the riot among inmates at the Sebin headquarters at the Helicoide in Caracas
Former LDS Missionary Josh Holt, imprisoned in a Venezuelan prison since 2016, took to social media Wednesday to beg for help as prisoners took over parts of his facility.
"This has been taken over peacefully by all the political prisoners and all the prisoners who are abducted here, who are tortured daily", a man said in one of the videos.
"We are concerned about the riot at El Helicoide", Mr Robinson said in a statement, referring to the helix-shaped building where Maduro's top opponents are being held.
He said authorities had fired weapons and tear gas but detainees were holding out to demand freedom.
Venezuela's Public Ministry has set up an ad hoc commission that will investigate a prison riot among inmates at a crowded Caracas detention center on Wednesday. He appeared with a bruised face in pictures on social media. "They say they're doing things, but I'm still here", Holt said. Venezuela's chief prosecutor despatched a fee to the jail to debate the prisoners' calls for.
"The Sebin has told me that as long as my Government continues attacking this Government, and as long as Marco Rubio continues talking about me, the longer that they will never let me go", Mr Holt said in a written message, referring to the Republican senator from Florida who has accused Mr Maduro of keeping Mr Holt as a "hostage" to extract concessions from the US.
"I've been begging my Government for two years".

Rights groups and Maduro opponents have said several hundred political prisoners were unfairly jailed, while Maduro has said all jailed activists were being held on legitimate charges of violence and subversion.
Josh Holt, 26, can be seen in a Facebook video pleading for help from the US government after claiming that the prison "has fallen" to people wanting to kill him.
His mother, Laurie Holt, confirmed the page belonged to her son.
A third video shows a USA citizen, John Holt, who was arrested in Caracas in 2016 and has yet to be tried.
Authorities of Venezuela claim that Holt was working with the USA government to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro, a plan they say involved him and his wife stockpiling weapons.
"The Government of Venezuela is directly responsible for their safety and will be held responsible if anything happens to them".
Todd Robinson, the chargé d'affaires at the US embassy, went to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry for information, the embassy added.
