The Senate Judiciary Committee released more than 2,500 pages of documents on Wednesday related to its investigation about a meeting in 2016 between top Trump aides and a delegation of Russians who promised to help the campaign.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly honed in on both the meeting and the varied explanations the Trump team has offered about it as he investigates possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, as well as possible obstruction of that probe by the President.
Like Trump Jr. and Kushner, who released a public statement about the meeting past year, Goldstone said the meeting was disappointing. He said he could not recall the day the Trump meeting was arranged but insisted that he had never discussed the meeting with him.
Donald Trump Jr. shut down the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower by telling his Russian guests perhaps they'd revisit the discussion about lifting sanctions legislation should his father win the election.
"The Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated, and ordered by President (Vladimir) Putin himself for the objective of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton", Warner said. That offer does not appear to have translated into an actual digital campaign.
Donald Trump Jr. says he doesn't remember a lot when it comes to the circumstances around a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with a Russian attorney.
Trump said, however, that he would have taken such a message only as "general well-wishing", not a concrete offer of help. "The public can now see that for over five hours I answered every question asked and was candid and forthright with the committee". But the transcripts released by the Senate Judiciary Committee fill in new details about how Trump Jr., President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort were expecting a bombshell from Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
Russian Federation denies trying to influence the election.

Finally, Philip Green , who joined the board in 2011 and became Chairman in 2014, is labelled as an "unquestioning optimist". The report said: "These were empty threats - the Carillion directors knew it and got their way".
Mr Goldstone said his client Emin Agalarov, Azerbaijan's biggest pop star and son of Russian billionaire Aras Agalarov, pressured him into setting up the meeting with Mr Trump Jr - even after Mr Goldstone said it was "a really bad idea".
Members of Congress and the Justice Department are investigating.
Senate Judiciary Democrats said the transcripts are just "one piece of a much larger puzzle" and do not tell the entire story because some participants were not interviewed and Republican chairman, Sen.
The meeting is a part of an ongoing probe by the US Department of Justice into alleged Russian Federation meddling in 2016.
"After a thorough review, our staff concluded that the (intelligence community) conclusions were accurate and on point", Senator Mark Warner said.
Asked to account for the evolving statements, Trump Jr. told Senate investigators that "they're all very consistent with each other". The president cheered the House Intelligence Committee's findings and report on Twitter, claiming it vindicated him by finding there was no evidence of collusion or coordination with Russian Federation. The former Trump campaign chair is now under indictment by Robert Mueller on charges of money laundering and unregistered foreign lobbying conducted before he joined the Trump team.
The allegations, and multiple investigations into the matter, have shadowed the first 16 months of Trump's presidency.
