RTP is hosting its first Eurovision Song Contest following their win in 2017, 53 years after their debut in the event.

The singer Ryan O'Shaughnessy, representing Ireland, sang a sentimental breakup ballad, "Together", which featured two male performers dancing and holding hands. Despite winning Eurovision five times, the United Kingdom has not managed to top the score board since 1998.
The UK's entry for the song competition will be SuRie, who will be singing her single Storm at the Eurovision final.
