The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, on Thursday said that the Federal Government was targeting to earn more revenue through the introduction of additional five million taxpayers to the tax net.

She pointed out that the administration was driving the mobilisation of more revenues to sustain Nigeria's economic growth, adding that the current administration was paying attention to electricity which it considered critical in expanding the economy.

She said despite crude oil prices rising amid global tensions, government would not get complacent, but remain optimistic and vigilant, and continue to push on fundamentals to drive economic growth.

He said, "It is important that the government keeps pushing on reforms, in particular its sustainability is very important for keeping the pace to increase inclusive growth, going forward". Then we also have our energizing market programme, these are off-grid solutions where we provide solar power to replace generators that people use in the markets like Ariara in Aba, in other markets in Lagos and Akure, Ondo State. Because most of what the government spends is from oil and the taxes of the few, many citizens simply see government money as belonging to no one.

The 10 World Bank's Executive Directors, representing 96 countries, are expected to inspect the Azura Power Plant in Edo State in the course of their three-day visit to Nigeria.

He said the reason why mismanagement of funds thrived in the past was that oil monies were readily available thus reducing the necessity for people to pay taxes.

She, therefore, appealed to Nigerians to "trust the President Buhari Administration to deliver on its promises of improving the economy and providing sustainable infrastructure development". It is cheaper and it is cleaner and we bring in the private sector to install the solar power.
