Parade Permit Denied for Controversial MLK Day Parade in Arlington
The controversy Warren mentioned is in relation to the parade's decision to select Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as the honorary grand marshal for the parade.
In Arlington, special event organizers must meet requirements such as providing for insurance, a traffic study, adequate parking and public safety components, Warren said.
"There is a significant burden and we have to be sure that burden is not borne by the taxpayers", he said.
"Do we move forward, or do we hold up, because we were all concerned?" Organizers have 5 days to appeal and the city would have 5 days to respond after an appeal is filed.
The City of Arlington denied a permit to the parade organizers because they couldn't cover some of the expenses.

Though the governor's office said it would provide comment on the situation, it had not by late Thursday night.
But the governor earlier in the week tweeted: "I am a Christian, I've committed my life to ensuring justice, I come in peace".
