Not bullish on the Eagles' chances
Motivated by silencing their doubters in the run-up to Saturday's 15-10 NFC Divisional Playoff victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the underdog mask-wearing Eagles say they it doesn't matter who they face in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles will host the championship game at Lincoln Financial Field next Sunday against the victor of the New Orleans Saints-Minnesota Vikings divisional game on Sunday.
As the final minutes fell, Eagles fans could not get over the critical final moments as they watched with anticipation. They're back at Square 1, if not behind that.
There were plenty of plays the Eagles didn't make, but with the game on the line, and only 2 yards standing between the Falcons and the end zone late in the fourth quarter, it was the underdog that came out on top.
With the win Saturday, the Eagles moved onto the NFC championship game.
"That's a play we practice all the time, and certainly in those situations you go to your best player", Ryan said.
James White had one in the air and one on the ground within four second-quarter minutes, and Tom Brady hit Chris Hogan with a four-yard pass to give the Patriots a 21-7 half-time lead. But head coach Dan Quinn did not regret the choice to put the game in the hands of his top playmakers. Like the others, Graham knew what play Atlanta had in place.
Including that last one. And even though Foles didn't look all that sharp to close out the regular season, the important factor is he helped the Eagles come through when it mattered the most against the Falcons. Jones made several clutch grabs, highlighted by a 20-yard catch on a fourth-and-6 that could have ended the game.
The Falcons have pumped in artificial noise in practice this week but will lean heavily on Ryan and center Alex Mack to use their experience with silent counts and hand signals.
Jones defended Sarkisian, but said the offense underachieved. They'll host the Saints or Vikings next Sunday.
The game wasn't decided until the final seconds.

Plane skids off Turkish runway metres from the sea
Several Turkish Airlines flights in and out of the airport were canceled, as photographs from the scene showed the plane stuck in mud.
Ryan rolled right toward Jones, but the wide receiver went down coming out of his cut.
Sure, the rest of the game plays out differently if the score is different, but pretending a swing like that doesn't bite you somewhere in the end is foolish.
For the second time in the first half, Atlanta turned the turnover into points.
Ajayi displayed his pass-catching talent providing quarterback Nick Foles with a reliable outlet in the backfield.
Photo The Eagles' Jay Ajayi (36) was upended in the first half of the game against the Falcons on Saturday in Philadelphia. The Falcons kept marching and appeared prime to pull out the victory. Cox made life miserable for Ryan and Devonte Freeman, who was held to seven rushing yards on 10 carries.
It led to a three-and-out.
While head coach Doug Pederson had publicly supported Foles on several occasions, according to National Football League insider Ian Rappaport, they were willing to pull him if need be during Saturday's game.
The fourth-down misfire also ensured the Falcons went scoreless in the second half as the Eagles rallied and scored six unanswered points to win a low-scoring slugfest.
They couldn't finish - something too familiar to them over the past year.
