Thanks to an update to the Google Assistant for iOS app, the digital assistant now supports the Apple iPad.
When the app is open, it can listen for "Hey, Google" commands, respond to natural language inquiries, and offer personalized information based on your Google account. In addition, it displays turn-by-turn directions and weather forecasts when queried. It's free to download and use. Like all digital assistants except Siri, the app must be manually opened on the iPad and can not be summoned in the background as on Android devices. A version for iPhone debuted last summer, but today is the first time this software runs well on a tablet.

Apple opens WWDC 2018 registration: June 4-8 in San Jose
