Bleacher Nation Cubs reporter Michael Cerami tweeted Thursday that if Ian Happ opened the Chicago-Miami game with a home run, Cerami would jump into Lake Michigan.

On the first pitch, Happ hammered one off of Jose Urena into right field.

Urena (0-1) needed 36 pitches to get through the first inning, when the Cubs scored three times with only one hit.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo attended the Parkland, Fla., high school. Urena tied for first with 14 hit batsmen last season. He crashed into the wall hard going for a long fly by Derek Dietrich, which ended up a triple.

Jeter's first inning as chief executive of the Miami Marlins did not quite go as planned. Anderson ended up on third by the end of the play, and was driven in on a single by Garrett Cooper.

Kyle Schwarber cost the Cubs a run with a misplay in left field, but atoned with a homer in the seventh.

Five Chicago relievers combined to pitch 5 2/3 scoreless innings. "We love it, I love it, I think a lot of the players do also", Maddon said (via the Chicago Tribune).

"That was probably the most out of body experience I've had hitting a home run in my life", Rizzo said. That, paired with timely defense, and a lights out bullpen made Jon Lester's shaky outing pretty much nonexistent.

But the Cubs bats bailed him out immediately as Willson Contreras' double in the top of the fourth gave the Cubs the lead back.

So what exactly propelled the Cubs to an 8-4 win against the Marlins? Let's all hope that it continues for the rest of the week, month and season!
