King of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, who arrived on a three day visit to the country today will discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and worldwide issues of mutual interest. The ways to deal with terrorism, radicalisation and extremism are likely to figure prominently in the deliberations.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi¿s recent visit, Jordan also offered help to track down missing Indians in Iraq.

During the King's visit, both sides will aim to further boost ties in several key areas and look to finalise a framework for defence and security cooperation, they said. "We attach great importance to our ties with Jordan as it is an oasis of stability and harmony in an area of conflict", said a source, reflecting on the significance of the Jordan kings visit.

In their talks, Modi and the King are also likely to explore ways of deepening trade ties. India made an investment of $860 million in a joint venture, Jordan Indian Fertilisers Limited, to exploit the Jordanian reserves of rock phosphates to manufacture fertilisers.

King Abdullah II, who will be visiting India for the second time from February 27 to March 1, will lead a large business delegation.

This visit is a testimony to India's "Think West" policy getting robust and more vigorous, as it comes within a few weeks of PM Modi's transit through Amman to Palestine.
