Several coaches have been linked with the Goodison Park hot seat as Allardyce continues to underwhelm since replacing Ronald Koeman in November past year.

The former England manager made a quick start to life at Goodison Park, winning four of his opening five games, but he has come under pressure in recent weeks after losing six of his last nine matches.

Coleman has not played for the club since the win over the Eagles but Allardyce confirmed at his pre-match press conference on Friday that the Ireland captain would return to the club alongside left-back Leighton Baines.

'At the moment we're in a very good position and I'm slightly surprised by the speculation.

When asked who should replace Allardyce if he is given the boot, Campbell replied: "To be honest Silva for me yet Howe, Fonseca or Dyche could do the job too!"

Allardyce also added that midfielder James McCarthy is walking again but he was reluctant to put a time frame on the player's return from a double leg break.

Instead, the 63-year-old chose to point to the records under both Koeman and Roberto Martinez before him.

"For me the away form is a long standing problem at the club, it's not something that's only arrived in my tender".

The defender picked up the problem on his Toffees debut after joining from Manchester City, with Allardyce explaining: "His injury is going to be a bit more length-wise than first thought. In 2017 there were only two games won away from home".

Allardyce signed an 18-month contract when he took the reins from interim boss David Unsworth in November but is not expected to see out his deal by the Everton faithful, who are keen for Farhad Moshiri to appoint the fifth manager of his two-year spell as the majority shareholder on Merseyside. "We were close at Watford".
