Although there is some uncertainty as to how cold it will be, the Met Office is now forecasting a daytime wind chill temperature (what it feels like) of -5ºC.

But a spokeswoman for the Met Office confirmed this cold snap would not compare to the effects of the Beast from the East.

Weather maps show horrifying cold air encircling the United Kingdom that could cause temperatures to plummet.

During the week temperatures will be mild, reaching highs of around 12C tomorrow (Wednesday).

Weatherquest's Richard Jones said temperatures on Friday would struggle to get above 6C before falling sharply overnight into Saturday when a band of snowfall was forecast to hit the region.

Before you rush out and start panic-buying bread, a spokesman for the Met Office tells HuffPost UK that while it will be a chilly weekend, it will not be comparable to the monstrous snow storms we endured two weeks ago.

"We are expecting it to colder, but at this stage we don't expect there to be much snow".

He added: "It will be dry and cold in Manchester, though it will be a very poor sequel to the Beast from the East".
