President Donald Trump will meet with lawmakers on Wednesday to discuss legislative solutions in response to the Parkland Florida school shooting White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said
President Donald Trump will meet with executives from the video game industry next week to talk about gun violence, the White House announced on Thursday.
"Next week, [President Trump] will be meeting with members of the video game industry to see what they can do", she said.
A statement provided to Business Insider by the Entertainment Software Association, the trade association that represents the video game industry, said that no video game company had recieved an invitation to any such White House meeting.
While most people within the gaming industry have moved on from the debate over violent video games, the recent rise in school shootings in the United States has brought the topic back into the forefront of some people's minds.
Sanders responded by calling Trump a leader.
"The video games, the movies, the internet stuff is so violent, it's so incredible".
Of course, before the Parkland shooting completely changed the national conversation, the president was embroiled in several scandals, most of which stemmed from White House aide Rob Porter being alleged to have physically abused two of his ex-wives.

President Trump met with senators from both parties on Wednesday to discuss legislative measures on gun control.
Another idea floated by Trump has been to raise the minimum age to buy assault rifles from 18 to 21, which would put those weapons on par with handguns.
But Trump has also said "the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts".
No concrete action came out of the meeting, although the White House did recommend more research on the connection between on-screen violence and real life.

"This is going to be an ongoing process and something that we don't expect to happen overnight but something that we're going to continue being engaged in and continue to look for the best ways possible to make sure that we're doing everything we can to protect schools across the country", Sanders said.
