MERRILLVILLE, Ind-There was an accidental shooting of a pregnant woman by her 3-year-daughter in Northwestern Indiana. According to police, the woman's boyfriend left his 9mm handgun with extended magazine on the center console of the auto while he went inside the shop. Thomas is pregnant and was taken to the hospital.
The mother, 21-year-old Shaneque Thomas, was parked outside a Plato's Closet thrift store in Merrillville, Indiana when she was shot from behind by her young daughter.
The child is then said to have climbed over from the backseat and reached to pick up the gun before accidentally firing, hitting her mother though the upper right part of her torso.
Plato's Closet employee Hadassah Zirkle told WLS that people immediately noticed something bad had happened.
"There was just blood pouring out of her, we had no idea where it was coming from, what caused it. Someone said someone was hurt and bleeding", she said.
"When you take on a responsibility of gun ownership, you have to be a responsible adult", he said.

"He rushed over, he was bawling his eyes out", her co-worker Paloma Prieto said.
Thomas was airlifted to hospital where she now in a critical but stable condition. "We grabbed them. We brought them inside, and we just tried comforting them as best we could".
Brazier was charged with child endangerment.
The children were placed into protective custody.
The bullet penetrated the vehicle seat and struck the 21-year-old mom in the shoulder at a Merrillville strip mall Tuesday afternoon, police said. "I hope she survives the gunshot wound".
