Two EF-1 Tornadoes Confirmed in Johnson and Franklin Counties
It was seven years ago, on April 16, 2011, when North Carolina had 31 tornadoes reported in a span of a day. It killed at least one person and closed three Guilford County elementary schools for the rest of the semester.
The statement says emergency crews are conducting emergency checks in the areas affected and urged anyone needing immediate shelter to head to a local high school.
