Mogadishu officials reportedly stopped a plane from the UAE from leaving the country after Emirati military trainers on board refused to hand over their luggage to be scanned and searched.
The United Arab Emirates has said it will end its military training mission to Somalia after an incident that saw its soldiers assaulted and 9.6 million USA dollars (£6.7 million) seized at an airport in Mogadishu.
The UAE has trained thousands of Somali soldiers in the mission it began in 2014, which both helped the conflict-ravaged nation rebuild after decades of chaos and give Emirati soldiers more experience overseas.
It would be recalled that an Emirati civilian jet with 47 military on board was seized at Mogadishu airport on Sunday carrying US$9.6 million in cash allocated to support the Somali army.
The UAE's foreign ministry said it would end its training mission in Somalia, where it also built training centres and a hospital.

"The ministry said Somalia welcomes foreign direct investment because prosperity and economic growth will help unite the nation", the statement added.
The UAE said the money was to pay for the salaries for Somali soldiers as part of an agreement between the two countries.
Mohamed Moalimuu, Secretary General of National Union of Somali Journalists, tweeted on Tuesday evening that the country's legislators had been summoned to return to duty, supposedly to discuss the UAE dispute. Somalia's government has remained neutral in the conflict, despite Saudi and Emirati pressure to denounce Doha.
In March, Somalia banned UAE's DP World from doing business in the country after it nullified an agreement the company had entered into with Ethiopia and Somaliland for the management of Berbera port.
Somalia called on the United Nations Security Council to "take the necessary steps" to "put an end to these actions".
