Apology Accepted, Journalist Tells Tamil Nadu Governor
Nirmala Devi, an assistant professor with a college in Aruppukkottai, affiliated to MKU could be heard in the audio clipping which went viral on Sundaycoaxing four of her pupils to yield to sexual urges of higher officials of the university.She was subsequently suspended by the college and Aruppukkottai town police arrested her on Monday evening.
The students had informed the college about the matter a month ago.
Nirmala Devi of Devanga Arts College had allegedly promised to reward her students financially and academically if they agreed to extend sexual favours.
When questioned about why he was giving a press conference today, when he had remained silent during the Cauvery and other raging issues, Purohit said the press conference is only to mark his completion of six months as governor of Tamil Nadu.
Governor in his more than an hour long press meet pointed out that he has not even seen the face of the lady. "I am above politics", he said.

He said the entire appointment process was transparent and his name was selected from a list of three names shortlisted after the search committee process.
He also dismissed criticism of political parties about his meetings with officials in districts, saying they are not review meetings.
Asserting that swift action was taken in an unbiased manner to bring out the truth, the Raj Bhavan said the action was entirely in accordance with the Constitutional and legal position.
His decision to order an enquiry also courted controversy when nearly all the opposition parties questioned his authority to order an enquiry in to criminal act though he is the chancellor of the university.
