The Eagles on Wednesday agreed to sign former Washington running back Matt Jones, according to reports
Yes, on the surface Matt Jones isn't a big name available free agent like Dez Bryant - but his addition to the Eagles roster, reportedly occurring today various sources say, will be a big boost for the Birds' already stout rushing attack.
It didn't come as much of a surprise given the fact that the Colts drafted two running backs in Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins.
Jones, 25, was a former third-round pick by the Washington Redskins in 2015.
Jones had one of his best games against the Eagles in 2016, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown in a 27-20 Redskins win on October 16, 2016. One of the participants was former Baltimore Ravens running back Terrence West.

But with his considerable size (6-2, 240 lbs.), perhaps the Eagles can use Jones to make up for the physical running they lost with the departure of LeGarrette Blount, who left this offseason to sign with the Detroit Lions.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport tweeted that Jones won a three-running back workout competition to earn a contract with the Eagles. Josh Adams also figures to get a look in short yardage situations during camp and preseason.
