The body of Ana Kriegel was found at a derelict farmhouse in Lucan

Gardaí said that the body of a female had been discovered on the Clonee Road in Lucan in Dublin at approximately 1pm.

The scene is now being preserved, pending a full Garda technical examination, with the body now at the scene.

A body has been found in the search for missing 14-year-old Anastasia Kriegel.

Anastasia was last seen at St Catherine's Park in Lucan at 5.30pm on Monday and gardai had released several appeals for information surrounding her whereabouts.

It is understood that she was found without her clothing and may have been beaten to death.

She had been missing since Monday and was last seen in St. Catherine's Park, not far from the scene being investigated.

"We are appealing to the public for their assistance".

"They have another child in that house as well so they have to be very careful around that", Supt Gordon added.

Gardai do not believe at this stage that Ana was alone in St Catherine's Park, but are continuing their inquiries.

During the searching the Garda Water Unit, including divers, had been drafted in to search parts of the nearby River Liffey and Royal Canal.

The scene where Ana's remains were found was expected to be sealed off for several days at the Garda Technical Bureau examined it forensically.
