Amazon has just made its biggest push into blockchain yet

Amazon-Web-Services-AWS

They've (Amazon) been looking for partners to help get blockchain into their customers hands.

The Tuesday announcement indicated that the technology company will collaborate with Kaleido, an offshoot of a respected blockchain incubator, Consensys.

Overall, the objective of the company is to give AWS customer straightforward access to the same technology that underpins digital assets such as Bitcoin.

"We knew we needed to design a platform from the business problems down, since that is where the enduring problems are that companies face in the blockchain space".

The development gives customers advantage to build their firms on blockchain technology. But blockchain is notoriously difficult to install, and even harder to manage, so Kaleido should get lots of attention, the analyst said.

Announced at the ConsenSys blockchain conference in NY on Tuesday, the tech giant's cloud computing arm is partnering with a startup called Kaleido, which was born out of ConsenSys.

Verizon announced today that it was going with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred public cloud provider. AWS is using a partner-led strategy instead of building from the ground up.

"It also represents the first "dual mode" use of Ethereum, enabling private, permissioned Ethereum-based systems to link with public, permissionless Ethereum, in order to achieve an element of trustworthiness that has previously been unobtainable", Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin noted of the deal.

Lubin pointed that companies are deploying blockchain massively due to its impacts on their services.

The Kaleido platform is created to offer companies the immutable security of a public blockchain without compromising the flexibility of private networks in what the companies call a "private-public" approach to blockchain operations. Kaleido is also compatible with many of Amazon's existing web services, including Amazon Athena, Amazon Elastic MapReduce, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud and others.
